Dedicated to providing enjoyable and safe trails for equine riders

About EquiTreks

In the beginning...

EquiTreks was established to bring detailed, consistent, comprehensive trail information to equine trail riders – more valuable and necessary information than is found in trail books and websites. Early intentions were to provide trails for the Central Sierra only; but during the process of developing and refining the trail-reporting templates, we realized that riders all over would appreciate and benefit from this high-value trail information. EquiTreks then also dedicated itself to creating a way to work with trail riders in other areas – detail- and quality-oriented riders interested in gathering trail data in their area, working collaboratively with EquiTreks to finalize the trail documents, and receiving a percentage of the sale each time one of the trails they contributed is purchased . The next step was to develop an easy-to-use website to deliver the trails, which resulted in an information-rich, interactive, updateable web-based trail resource – unlike any other.

EquiTreks standards are high

The current trail-reporting templates represent many, many, … many hours of development, testing, and refinement time – but it was worth it. The breadth and depth of information is truly substantial and unique. To sustain the highest level of excellence, EquiTreks is committed to investing time in and providing resources to the trail contributors as they enter trail information into the EquiTreks templates. Each trail that appears on EquiTreks will be the result of a combined team effort.

The EquiTreks concept is good

Provide value to trail riders who purchase the EquiTreks trails. Each EquiTreks trail bundle represents many hours of data-gathering, research, editing, graphics development . The bundles are a better assemblage of usable, decision-enabling information than can be reasonably put together by a rider on his/her own – saves research and reconnaissance time and money.

Work collaboratively with partner trail riders and share the benefits. EquiTreks is not strictly a user-generated content website. EquiTreks is involved with the development and finalization of every trail. EquiTreks is, in essence, the "publisher" for the trail contributor's "book." Trail contributors receive a generous portion of the sale price without having to worry about or bear the expense of printing and distribution costs.

Develop peripheral information to support and extend the usefulness of the trail-specific information. EquiTreks is committed to continuously adding articles, FAQs, new website functionality, and complementary to the information in the trail bundles.

We are looking forward to serving trail riders for many years to come. We hope you'll be part of our journey.

Denise Robinson

I grew up here and riding in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I am excited to share the history and trails for this area. Now I spend as much time as I can at higher elevations. The back country and wilderness is where you'll find me once the snow melts. Ten years ago I began learning to pack. We expanded our herd to include a couple of pack animals and have been on the trails ever since. Squirt, Dudley, Ginny, and my dog, Spur, are my constant companions.

I began riding as a preteen in Southern California. It's fun to remember the full-moon night rides through wither-high barley fields; riding to friends’ houses for sleepovers and early morning rides before the sun came up; and "going out to lunch on horseback," riding to a little restaurant in Granada Hills that had a field next to it where we could tie up the horses. Marriage and raising children took me away from horses for a lot of years, but I'm back! I'm enjoying the new memories I'm making now with my two horses, handsome Beetle and spunky Ginger.
